Description

At OAX 2024, Gerhard brought some beautiful Cerebus (or Gerebus) illustrations from various moments during the series. He was asking that people only pick up 2 of them to allow others to be able to get some, which was really thoughtful and equitable.

When I asked him if he could do the backgrounds on my Dr. Fate page, I also asked if he could please create one of his Cerebus pieces of him ascending. He was kind enough to not only to create an amazing piece, but one on 9"x12" paper with the art 5.5"x9".

Big thanks to Gerhard and Bill and Kasra at CAF for an amazing inaugural OAX 2024.

Really nice how it begins to crumble like a cookie into the undefined bottom edge of the frame! Gerhard nicely isolated Cerebus with a lighter tone while he goes wild in the densely packed art for the wall of skulls.

Wonderful piece! His hatchwork lends a 3D quality to the piece as Cerebus hangs on by a horn.

Gerhard's aesthetic is spot on - missing out on his pre-dones at OAX was one of my major regrets. This is fantastic!
