Description
from the story. "The year without a Christmas"(1974) great page of the marvel family as they try to stop Dr Sivana and his children( Beautia and Thaddesus Jr.) as he uses a clock machine to end Christmas for everyone. (the original Scrooge.) But the Marvel family steps in and saves the day and gives the bad guys their just rewards. Kurt Scharffenberger Is one of the premiere artists drawing the marvel family. he worked on various title while at Fawcett comics including Captain Marvel Adventures, Captain Marvel Jr.,Marvel Family,Whiz Comics and Ibis the Invincible. before joining DC in 1957. Kurt brings that purity of what the marvel family stood for when he took on the drawing choirs for the shazam title. he brings his clean and clear line work on the marvel family. i love the first three panels as first Captain Marvel tries holding back the ticking hands of the clock and then Captain Marvel jr. grabs him around his waist to help the struggle. Mary Marvel contributes to the team work by grabbing the other clock hand and help reset Christmas morning for all people. of course they have the classic pose of the Marvel Family standing over the defeated Sivana family. simpler times where good always beats evil, until the nest issue.

The Shazam Family in their full glory in the last panel!  All the golden age charm is there in their own pocket universe where seemingly time stood still!

that was the charm and their curse also  a leave it to beaver world where the good guys were good and the bad guys were bad. and the good guys always won. good for the 70's but things got darker the last 10 years.

If you want to add a Captain Marvel page to your collection, it is very difficult to find one with content quality as high as this one exhibits. Fantastic page and acquisition, Brian!
