DescriptionFollowing Rick W's excellent lead (which I always try to do), here is another page from JSF issue 18, The Curious Case of the Olympic Teddy Bear (ok, it's not really called that but the bear is a plot point - 40 year old spoiler alert).Just an amazing series that holds up well. While most people rightly focus on the terrific stories and characters, don't overlook how Mike draws cars, motorcycles, trains and other moving vehicles. His work on these is a labor of love. This is one series where I prefer the inked pages to the colored ones. The 1980s color always seemed overly bright and garish to me. Mile fixed this issue to some extent in the recent Deluxe Hardcover Omnibus Volume 1 Kickstarter campaign. That book is worth picking up - Volume 2 has been funded and I believe he plans to continue making them through issue 50 - and amazingly, to pencil the issues that originally he had scripted but had other artists draw. I don't mind the coloring...in the original comics, on the newsprint. The bone white glossy paper used in reprint collections doesn't work. But anyway...where are these JSF #18 pages coming from? Congrats on getting one!

About a year or two ago, Romitaman got a bunch of pages from issues 17 and 18. I bought a bunch and I think Rick did as well.

Agree with Felix, don't mind the coloring in the old issues - my preferred way to reread Sable - takes me back. Great piece.

It's a beauty and Grell was well onto making the indies more mature and sophisticated than the big 2. The close ups in panel 3 and the teddy bear steal the show having an yin/yang energy to the page as they stare at each other.
