Description
Pages 12-13 from Sandman, issue 2 (chapter title of 'Imperfect Hosts' within the 'More Than Rubies' storyline). Morpheus returns home to the Dreaming...and it's undoubtedly been missing him. Lucien, the librarian, and some remaining others have been doing their best, but Dream's absence for 72 years has meant some severe deterioration to his realm and abandonment by many of its inhabitants. Time to get back to work!

Stellar early Sandman DPS! My face would look exactly like that if after 75 years of imprisonment I came home to find out that I have to clean up an entire dreaming realm 🤣!

Wonderful double-page spread!  I had to stop myself from using any "dreamy" puns.

Amazing! Wish Kieth stayed on longer but then we might not have gotten other amazing works from Dringenberg and KJ.

A delightful egg panel!  Like an old storybook illustration where a picture in this shape will hatch into something that will propel the story forward.

Wow, Chris! What a fantastic DPS. Sam Kieth did an amazing job on this. But of course, it's the idea of it, Neil Gaiman's idea, that is really why this DPS is so striking. I think that's something we OA collectors sometimes forget. That the writing inspires the art, not the other way around. Great art without the underpinnings of a great storyline is just pretty art. It's when the writing and the art are both brilliant that the true magic happens. Think Dark Knight Returns, think Watchmen.  And that's what's happening on this page, a fabulous combination of great writing and great art. Phenomenal pick-up, congrats.
