Description
Here's a silly piece I couldn't resist, featuring Rogue arm-wrestling with She-Hulk. Dave drew this at a comics store appearance at Trilogy Comics in Virginia Beach, VA. I guess that's not technically a "Convention Sketch", but pretty close.

Per the seller, "the art is from the mid 80's when Dave made multiple store appearances", however I think it's a bit later based on this version of Rogue's costume, which was introduced in 1988. Rogue switched to her classic Jim Lee designed outfit in 1991, so this was probably drawn between 1988 and 1991.

While Rogue is not an X-Men character that Dave Cockrum is particularly known for, he did draw her first appearance in the X-Men in #158, when she was still a villain.

What a match up!  Left handers!  Lovely fashions of the era. Rogue with the skunk hair look while She Hulk has her gym clothes on!

While stylistically speaking his sketches barely looked like his work that we know him for during the last 15 to 20 years of his life, his anatomy was still on point and so was the fun he often brought to sketches and commissions, as we see right here. My money is on Jen!
