Description

This is page 46A from the book, first published by Gl�nat, "Les Vacances de Donald", a fully painted effort by the Italian Disney artist Federico Bertolucci.

Federico developed for this book a stunning coloring technique, using different types of colors (gouache, watercolor, etc.), that looks incredible on the original page. When I first saw the printed book, I thought it was achieved with digital colors. Oh boy, was I wrong.

There's a strong "classic cartoon" vibe in the story, emphasized by the lack of text or balloons (the entire story is visually told), and the gorgeous colors also contribute to that.

This splash page is just jaw-dropping... it makes you feel you're in Duckburg in the 50s, it looks like a perfect frame of a classic cartoon.

This is a fabulous page that immerses the observer into the scene as if he was standing a few feet off frame.

While I only watched the cartoons.. it's interesting to see the scale of the other characters compared to DD. Very cool pick up. Congrats!

yes, one of the first things I noticed is how the characters' proportions are much closer to Carl Barks' comics and old cartoons rather than today's... it feels maybe a little bit weird, but doesn't affect the gorgeousness of the piece (for me) :)
