Alack Sinner is the title character of the comic series of the same name.

Sinner is an Argentinian-born, former New York City cop who now operates as a private investigator navigating New York’s seedy & corrupt underbelly in the service of his clients.

The series took hard-boiled detective graphic literature to new heights. Created by the Argentine-born team of artist José Muñoz and writer Carlos Sampayo, they had supposedly never set foot in New York City before creating the scarred & brooding man that would work the city’s noir-ish streets in stories told from 1975 through the 2000s.

The series was very much ahead of its time and evolved from a rather standard private investigator series to something much darker & more distorted. That progression followed the painful reveals about Sinner’s own life – the woman he left behind in Peron’s Argentina, his exile from his home country, his almost forgotten father, etc. He’s scarred both internally and externally. Sinner’s only real retreat is to his favorite local watering hole, Joe’s Bar.

Alack Sinner is an international bestseller. Originally serialized in Italian in Alterlinus and appearing in French in Charlie Mensuel, it has been translated into Dutch, Portuguese and German, and English. Muñoz and Sampayo are the winners of Europe’s top comics awards.
