Jane Arden 1/26/41 by Russell Ross

Here is a fun Sunday of a girl adventure strip, Jane Arden. It ran from 1928 to 1968 and although successful in the US, it was much more popular in Australia and Canada. It did get reprinted in a comic format too. Russell Ross was the artist on this era of the strip and drew it for 2 decades. I am guessing on the year as it is missing but '41 is reasonable. The only other Sundays that January 26th fell on in the 20 years he worked on the strip were '36 and '47. I inherited hundreds of thousands of tear sheets when a good friend passed away and the family was going to recycle them. I more than anyone can look at in a lifetime but as I was sorting them, there were many Jane Arden's and the cutout clothing feature was common so I was happy to find an original with that feature.
