Description
Roger Brand is a somewhat forgotten and overlooked underground comix pioneer. Some of his earliest comics work appeared in the early 1960s in the University of California, Berkeley's California Pelican humor magazine, alongside drawings by Beck. Brand began as an assistant to Gil Kane and Wally Wood, contributing to Wood's witzen and moving on to such publications as Creepy, Eerie, Jungle Jim and Web of Horror.

Entering the underground comix field, he initially did comics for the tabloid Gothic Blimp Works in NY, and later in SF for such titles as Banzai!, Candid Press, Insect Fear, Tales of the Leather Nun, Yellow Dog, and Young Lust.
Among his many contributions is that he was the editor that first solicited Zippy the Pinhead from Bill Griffith for Real Pulp Comics (two issues, 1971–1973).

This is an early underground cover to Yellow Dog Comics #19 Cover Original Art (Print Mint, 1971). The comix contains work from Greg Irons, Justin Green, Bill Griffith, Trina Robins, Larry Welz, Dave Sheridan, Fred Schrier, David Webster, Claude Bawls, Bill Presson, Stevie Lidney, Luis Medina, as well as Brand.
