Description
This very large illlustration board features multiple preliminary illustrations by the great fantasy illustrator, and one-time Frank Frazetta protégé, Ken Kelly. Features multiple dragons and heroic figures in various poses, including a highly detailed fire-breathing dragon head and signed and dated by the artist in 2007. Pencil on large 18"x22" illustration board and in excellent condition.

Ken Kelly, also known as Ken W. Kelly, was an American artist renowned for his dynamic paintings of sword and sorcery and heroic fantasy. Born in 1946 in New London, USA, Kelly’s works are often associated with the fantasy genre, and he is celebrated for his vivid depictions of warriors, mythical creatures, and epic battles. Influenced by artists such as Frank Frazetta, Kelly's bold, action-packed style became a defining feature of fantasy art in the 1970s and 1980s.

In addition to his personal work, Kelly gained recognition for his album cover art, notably for bands such as KISS and Manowar. His fantasy illustrations also graced the covers of numerous books and magazines. Throughout his career, Kelly's contributions to fantasy art were widely celebrated, cementing his place as a key figure in the genre. Ken Kelly died on June 2, 2022, at the age of 76, one great artist!

Very cool as each of these is done with a finer level of finish closer to the final look than starting roughs.
