Tim Truman, Scout issue 1 page 12 (Eclipse 1985)

While he first created, and is better known for, Grimjack, I think Tim Truman's best work is Scout. Tim's art really melded well with the world-creation he did in Scout. Scout itself is a dystopian drama about the world after an ecological collapse. Scout refers to Emanual Santana, a native Apache kidnapped and conscripted into the US Army. Santana must confront the effects of the collapse civilization and battle the Four Great Monsters of the Apache: Owl Giant Man, Buffalo Monster, Antelope Monster and Eagle Monster. The monsters appear in human form which allows Santana to confront and defeat them.

The storytelling and art in Scout feel very cinematic. Events and drama are presented in large format, making the stakes of the series feel very present, relevant and prescient.
