DescriptionThis lovely original gouache piece by David Wright featuring Carol Day lounging with her one, true love Jack Slingsby is untitled and has been published twice. It first appeared on page 14 in Terry Parker’s book, ‘Sirens’, the definitive examination of David Wright’s pin-up, advertising, and commercial illustration work. It next appeared as the back cover to ‘David Wright’s Carol Day: Jack Slingsby’, the art book reproducing the Jack Slingsby storyline from Carol Day in full-size and full-color and published by Roger Clark, Guy Mills, and yours truly under the Slingsby Bros, Ink! publishing banner. The piece is some kind of oversized prelim and is done in gouache painted on fragile and deteriorating construction paper. It's been archivally stabilized on a rice paper backing. Social/Sharing |

The lap of luxury with beautiful views for the interior and exterior. Especially so up close in the foreground where the sweet embrace is warm and romantic no matter what is around them.

Positively steamy. I love the yellow highlights on the faces and Carol's arm as well as the white highlights on the candlesticks. If this is a pre-lim . . . sheesh!

Ah, memories of lounging wtih a beautfiul woman in Florence. This is absolutely gorgeous, Chris, I now have my copy of Jack Slingsby flipped over and tilted up so I can look upon this masterpiece while I gaze out at the Duomo over the Arno.

I actually read the descriptions. 'Fragile and deteriorating' is an apt summation of life and the aging process we all face. The art is not bad either. Rice extends life! The new things we learn daily.

Maybe my aging process felt too similar to that of the piece...and that is why I worked to preserve it. Hmmm...something to ponder :)

Gorgeous piece - I also get a James Bond vibe from it. Congratulations!
