Description

David Wright came from a family of successful artists, most of which collaborated in a family 'studio' focused on generating imagery for fashion magazines, retail cataloguers, department stores, industry advertisements, etc. Wright was part of this studio at an early age and among his specializations was automobiles, which may have had to do with the fact that he was generally enamored with them, equating luxury vehicles as indicators of professional success.

These automobile studies are not dated, but they look like Packards and Wright most certainly created advertising imagery for Packards in the late 1920's, so I've placed these sometime in the ~1930 range.

Wow! What a cool grouping of classic cars! Davijd Wright had a great eye for finding interesting angles from which to draw them. I used to shoot TV commercials with cars, so I know a little bit about how to find the right angles on cars. Wright certainly had an eye for it and his beautiful pencil work really contributes to giving the cars a great look. Wonderful stuff!
