So true. Even from a thumbnail image his style comes through, demanding a closer look. Kirby was the first artist I saw whose style I could always identify - and I bought many a comic on the basis of a Kirby cover alone.

Great action and storytelling, especially in that wide pan center panel! The characters on the left are illustrated perfectly. Throw some krackle in there and you have yourself a nice interior.

I love to hear stories behind pages that were acquired in the earlier days of the hobby pre-internet (totally pre-dates my involvement in the hobby). An awesome Kirby/Royer page - and you've owned it for so long, congrats!

Thanks Kavi! Those were strange days. You'd see nothing for ages, and then all of a sudden you'd wish you had saved your money to buy more of the art that just popped up out of nowhere. And there would be no way of guessing what would come up or searching for something else. But it was definitely exciting.

Ha ha! Thanks, Aaron. Yes, this one is packed with sound effects. When I bought it, I'm not sure I even noticed them - I was so excited by the blast in the final panel, which really sold it to me.
