Another takeaway from OAX 2026, this one not expected at all. So, how did it happen?

I'm working with Diana Schutz on an English translation of a Portuguese graphic novel (In Search of Lost Tintin) that my publishing company, Slingsby Bros, Ink!, will be putting out into the market sometime in 2027.

Diana is a comics legend (Eisner Comics Industry Hall of Fame inductee in 2023) and has many famous friends in that world. In a pre-OAX working session, she asked me to find Adam Kubert and give him a hug from her. No problem - happy to do that.

Well, Adam is a very popular guy (and an Eisner winner himself) with a LONG line of folks waiting for him. While waiting, I got to go through the portfolios of art he had brought to the show and just immerse myself in what an amazingly talented artist he is.

That immersion resulted in a pre-hug purchase of this cover.

By far, the most expensive hug of my life. But, given the beauty of the cover, worth it on all fronts.

And BTW, you won't meet a more gracious person at a con than Adam. What a lovely guy.

Great cover Chris and I finally got my Adam Kubert cover last year and am still estatic about it ! Many congrats my friend ! Sometimes finding a piece just happens your way for no specific reason so,be ready for it, if you can,Ha-Ha !

This is a pretty explosive Wolverine cover, Chris! Congrats on obtaining it. But kudos for the great description as well, it's just as good of an anecdote!
