Description
Jeff did this lovely animated-legion Saturn Girl as a warmup card on WhatNot, and I really just can't resist his take on that version of the Legion, or the gorgeous space backgrounds he gives the cards.

I really like the expression and pose Jeff used in this one. The turned head, side-eye glance, and pouty expression make her come across as quite sassy, which she often was in the show. I do already have an animated Saturn Girl from him, but I've thought of a workaround: between seasons 1 and 2 of the cartoon, most of the characters got design changes and new costumes, but not Saturn Girl. So I suppose you could technically say my other card is Season 1 Saturn Girl, and this card is Season 2 Saturn Girl! Works for me.

I even think that, overall, this card is much more reminiscent of the cartoon's second season, which got much darker and grittier than the first. Compared to my other card, there's more black in the space background, stronger shading on Saturn Girl's breastplate, darker pink in her costume, and her expression is much more serious and less smiley.

Lovely animated Saturn Girl look by Jeff! I really like the skin tone and costume coloring. I'd love to ask if you think the 2 season animated show would be a good entry point for those less educated on Legion? Usually catching on longer shows is daunting to me, but 2 seasons and 26 total episodes actually seems possible so I'm thinkin' about giving it a shot.

Ohh, that's such an exciting question!!  Put a big smile on my face when I read it.  I had read Legion comics before discovering the animated show, but it was watching the show that cemented my love for the Legion and set me on the path to discovering and collecting comic art.

I would say that yes, it's an excellent entry point to learn prominent characters, their powers, and their relationships with each other.  The show has its own, self-contained continuity, but draws from the comics quite often.  It does take some liberties (making Brainiac 5 an android when he was always just an organic alien in the comics, for example), but none of them are too egregious.  It is of course a cartoon for kids, so some of the plot and dialogue can be cheesy, but if you've ever watched the 2003 Teen Titans cartoon and enjoyed that, I'd say the vibe is similar!

I like that hair and the eyelashes!  It's futuristic by 80's standards!
