At the inaugural OAX in 2024, after peeking through my swag bag, I knew immediately who I wanted to approach with my free blank sketch card. And I wasn’t going to wait until the free sketch window on Sunday. On Saturday morning (remember those bygone early halcyon days of OAX before there was a preview night?) I headed straight to Anthony’s booth and asked Miss Sharon if she would even consider it. And I suggested she could take it home in order to not feel rushed. I’m glad not only that she agreed, but that the extra time provided her room to let the idea percolate. My only request had been “Star Wars, not Leia or Darth Vader,” the subjects of her previous two cards in my collection.

Sharon clearly had fun with the character of Chewbacca. Too often relegated to the role of Han’s sidekick in film portrayals, this technicolor spirit capture lets his world grow, and builds his story more than I expected it would. Once again, Sharon delivered the perfect pocket-sized goodie, as sweet a Wookiee as any of her cupcakes.
