Thanks Michael.  Originally got this on eBay back in 2007 and just reacquired it at auction earlier this year.  Not sure if you were the original eBay seller or the most recent consigner, but thanks either way.  Like I said, I probably should have just kept it the first time but I'm glad you (and fate) had a hand in getting it back to me.  Sorry you had to take a loss, but at least you can cheer yourself up with that spectacular George Perez collection you have.

I always thought dragon man was a fun character design. Great take here by Yu. Congrats on reacquiring!

So happy I can enlarge this one, because man, the level of detail is phenomenal.  Congrats on getting this gem back into your collection again!

Gorgeous. The viewing angle, almost from the ground and looking up at the Thing, helps to show the straining sinews as he tries to tame Dragon Man. And the framing is so clever, emphasizing the scale of Dragon Man and the difficulty of the task. Lovely DPS.

I basically pretty much agree with you on the angle and the framing of the shot.  But if I had to nitpick (and I'm a Virgo, so I will), I would say that I wish he had gone just a little further with the separation for scale.  Maybe bring Dragon Man even closer to the camera and/or pushing Thing a little farther back, just to show a more pronounced size difference.  But I think the artist was probably more concerned with their shared billing.  Which is to say that each character is basically the star of his half of the splash.  What I'm describing would probably work better if it was a single splash instead of a DPS.  Then it would be more of a forced perspective kind of thing.  But as is, I think it's still a powerfully dramatic and dynamic scene.  Thanks for the nice comment Paul.

Congratulations on returning this piece back home.  I try to block a piece of art out of my mind the minute I sell it, but I'll admit there is a small handful of pieces I'd like to get back one day.  I'm glad you were able to make it a reality for yourself! 

Yeah, I do that too.  But I actually do it even a step earlier.  Before I am even able to move a piece into my FOR SALE gallery, I have to be able to emotionally detach from it.  It's like "letting it go" before letting it go.  Know what I mean?  As far as this piece, if I had not established a gallery for Philippine comic artists, I don't think it would have been as important for me to get it back.  I mean, it probably would have been just as easy to pick up another Lenil Yu piece.  But I guess the art gods wanted to have a little fun that day.  Thanks for the comment buddy.
