Jolene began working on this lovely little piece back in November. I remember liking the progress as she posted it on Instagram. It wasn't until she finished the piece and added it to her shop with some more information that I realized why these two looked vaguely familiar to me. Last year I had actually watched the movie The Cat. For those this don't know The Cat is a Sci Fi Action film with Extraterrestrials one of whom takes the form of a cat. They team up with Wisely who this piece depicts to fight a malevolent alien who can possess humans. Such a fun flick and it really must have stuck since I didn't forget the characters even though I couldn’t remember what the were from. Needless to say I couldn't help but purchase this lovely piece. I've loved Jolene's art for quite a while and just hadn't found a piece to snag. This was the perfect choice.
It's a small piece but has all of the wonderful trademarks of Jolene's beautiful style. Of course Wisely is simply stunning but what naturally draws your eye is the ferociousness of the Cat as it protects Wisely. It wouldn’t be a Jolene piece without a vintage aesthetic. For this piece she added a very ornate wallpaper that beautifully frames Wisely. Such a fantastic piece by this phenomenal artist. Absolutely thrilled to have it in my collection.
