What Flash didn't understand, was that, "Mongo was only a pawn, in the game of life."

I never met a Flash Gordon page I didn't like, and this one's a beaut.  That opening half-splash is well worth the price of admission!!

Gene was a Golden Age artist who did limited work in the 80's.
His style was a throwback.

Gonna find my baby, gonna hold her tight
Gonna grab some Flash Gordon delight
My motto's always been "When it's right, it's right"
Why wait until there's Marvel or a cold Dark Knight
When everything's a little clearer in Gene's line displayed
Hans we know the night is always gonna be here any day

Thinkin' of you's inkin' up my black and white
Looking forward to a Mongo afternoon delight
Rubbin' Ming and stones together make the sparks ignite
Arden's thought of rubbin' you is getting so exciting

Sky rockets in flight
Afternoon delight
Afternoon delight
Afternoon delight

Been a fan of FG since seeing the 80s film. Just a great page. love the stylings here including all the renders and the scale/perspective in the 1st panel. Congrats!

Huge spaceship and control panel panel! Overhead light glow is nicely done. It drew my eye for some reason. Expressive, attractive faces of Dale! I didn't know former Senator John Warner of Virginia wrote comics, lol!

This is a really nice title page! I never familiarized myself with Gene Fawcette's work, but it has a really nice, style akin to Lou Fine. It also has a very 60's look to it, so it's surprising to see that this was published in 1981!

Beautiful!  Gorgeously clean lines and hardcore forced perspective on that ship give this an incredibly timeless feel...  I was surprised by the 1981 publication date! :) LOVELY pick up, Miki!  What are the dimensions of the page?  It looks a bit wider than standard...?  (Or maybe that's just the length of the ship throwing me off... :) ).  Love this one!  Congrats, Miki!

It's a twice up page.. Sometimes I wonder if this was an inventory story that Fawcette had drawn earlier and was now being published.
