Over Memorial Day Weekend Modern Eden gallery held this first ever Spring Art Auction where they auctioned pieces from their archive of the past 16 years. Over the weekend they added new pieces to the listings and on the last day they added Redd's painting "The Windblown". When I saw the piece I got excited since I've enjoyed their work for years and would love to have one of their stunning pieces in my collection. Well much to my surprise I was the only one that ended up bidding so I got the piece for an absolute steal. Maybe the subject matter wasn't quite as beautiful as some of their other pieces but I'm thrilled to have this large stunner in my collection.
This beauty is quite a traveler. When Redd shared the process on Instagram they said they had painted it in 5 cities ranging from Stockholm to Seattle. The piece features their sibling Roxanna in a beautiful blooming Lupine valley. The piece is truly dynamic feeling as we see the abstraction of movement around her blurring her but leaving the Lupines untouched. I love how the butterflies are drawn to her and their wings and flower petals are blown around her. Truly a beautiful piece and it's created on such a unique canvas. After they paint their pieces on acrylic they are then laser cut to get these beautiful forms. A piece I really wasn't expecting to add to my collection but one I'm thrilled to give it a happy home where it will be enjoyed everyday.
