A lovely page which was seared into my 16-year-old brain. Several years ago I had a conversation with Shane Glines, who told me that the page had the same affect on Bruce Timm, who paid homage to the incident in a BATMAN ADVENTURES HOLIDAY SPECIAL featuring Batgirl. In the recent book BATMAN: MAD LOVE AND OTHER STORIES, the page as originally envisioned by Timm was printed. In his commentary Timm mentions, "Page 7 originally consisted of six panels of Barb changing into her Batgirl outfit right in the middle of the panicked crowd. Even after I explained that I'd lifted the gag from an old Supergirl story,DC said, 'No way!'" THIS is that page!
I purchased this original from Mitch Itkowitz in June 2001. In his Alter Ego #67 interview by Jim Amash, Oksner stated that, "My women had Saturday night bodies and Sunday School faces." If you see Oksner's contributions to this page, he did exactly that here!
In the additional images I have added the Bruce Timm MAD LOVE page that DC did not want him to print, even though I do not own the art (it saw print in the hardcover volume of MAD LOVE).
