DescriptionACQUISITION DATE: 2008SOURCE: direct OWNER HISTORY: 1 DIMENSIONS: 14x17 STOCK: art pad CREATION DATE: 2008 SIGNATURE: Steve Mannion PUBLICATION: n/a After posting 5 consecutive Steve Mannion pieces over the past several days, some of you are probably getting a little sick and tired of me going on and on about how great of an artist this guy is. Well, after 4 tries, I think I’ve finally found a piece that can speak for itself – a truly stunning Batman portrait rendered entirely in pencil. This is the final piece of Mannion art that I picked up from SuperCon 2008, but this one didn’t come from Steve. Well, not directly anyway. Actually, it was courtesy of another Steve. I just happened to be sitting at Steve’s table when Steve Morger came by to pick up his submissions for the SuperCon Art Auction. Now I thought I had already gone through all of Steve’s stuff and grabbed the pick of the liter, so imagine my surprise when he handed Morger this small stash of art for the auction. I watched intently as Steve (Morger) flipped through each piece one at a time and when he got to this Batman piece, I casually reached out my hand and very politely asked Steve if I could take a quick look at it. Of course as calm as I may have appeared on the outside, on the inside I was screaming HOLY @#$%!!!!! While I desperately wanted to add this piece to the stack that Steve (Mannion) was already holding for me, I knew he had done it especially for the auction, so there was really only one way that I was ever going to get my hands on this. Unfortunately, the auction was being held on Sunday and I was only going to be there Saturday. Luckily my buddy Jonathan reminded me that I would probably be able to place a proxy bid with Morger in my absence. Luckier still, the bid that I did end up placing actually held up. So, my sincere thanks to Steve and Steve! Err, I mean Steve M. and Steve M. (waitaminute, that doesn’t work either). Okay, here we go, thanks to Steve MANNION and Steve MORGER! Whew! And of course my buddy Jonathan for reminding me that there WAS a way! Thanks pal, what would I do without ‘cha? Social/Sharing |

No wonder your brain was screaming "Holy @#$% when you saw this piece!!!!! I'm sitting in front of my computer saying the same thing! Although nothing should surprise me anymore with Steves Amazing art! He keeps putting out more crazy drawings and each one can be better then the last. This Is one COOL BATMAN!!! I'm pretty sure Mannion drew this on a 14 x 17 sheet. What a nut !!! Great piece. I don't know if it's his intention, but every Mannion image always seems to be a moment in some larger story. You figure something happened before and something will happen after.

Dude this is Awesome!! I recall suggesting you put in a proxy bid with Steve; but had thought that the day had gotten away with you and you had forgotten to do so. So glad I was wrong and the bid held up! Congrats!~:)

Thanks Aric! Coming from someone who's got one of the best Batman collections on CAF, that's quite a complement!
