Description

This piece was done by Josh Middleton at the San Diego Comic Con International. He was appearing at the Heroes Initiative Booth on Saturday 07/25/09 and Sunday 07/26/09. On Saturday, I waited nearly 2 hours early before his scheduled appearance (and was still only 2nd in line with that great of a lead-time and then the line proceed to grow 'til it was eventually capped, as a testament to his popularity and fan following). This piece took nearly 1 hour to draw from fine penciling to detailed inking of this near full figure RED SONJA. I was on his commission list since 2004 when I first met him at Wizard World Los Angeles, and it's great to get a high quality piece like this from him since he doesn't make many convention appearances and generally has a workload that keeps him too busy to do commissions or sketch... but this was a special charity event in which he donated his time to raise funds for The Hero Initiative, so it was a great opportunity to support the Hero Initiative and to add a masterpiece to my collection.

wow, nice piece of art. josh's style is certainly changing, i haven't seen him ink like this before.

Really nice contour lines. Her arm makes it look as though the sword has weight. Very effective. Great piece.
