DescriptionI recently took this photograph of Frank with my iPhone using existing light sometime after Midnight, when he decided to touch up a piece that has confounded him for years, the cover to National Lampoon. He says he just can't figure out how the girl should be staged. It was a delight, and a privilege to quietly watch him consider the canvas and work. I hope the photo somewhat captured the Chiaroscuro magic of the moment.Social/Sharing |

Always nice to see a master in the "process" part of work, which for Frazetta seems to be more or less always. Question: what's Frank using for a backing board there? Looks like a Deathdealer painting.

Thank you for sharing!! Such dilemas have touch artists throughout history. Frank Frazetta, an artist once thought not worth history's memory, is affected as all artist are. History has him memorized!

Glen, he did indeed put the board in front of another piece he is working on, another Death Dealer piece. I will try to get his permission to show that great but still unfinished piece here.

Very cool to see this, for a variety of reasons. Please pass along a sincere "thanks" to Mr. Frazetta for putting out so much work that I've enjoyed and appreciate over the years, and thanks to you Rob, for posting things like this!

I so envy your access to "The Master"! But, am also very grateful for your sharing of these candid photos. It still amazes me how Mr. F has trained himself to work with his left hand. I have a hard enough time just signing my name with my left hand, and here he is creating another masterpiece!

One thing Frank is not is complacent. It's great to see that he is still working to this day even through all the hardships of recent years.
