DescriptionI had passed up a number of Bolland Judge Dredd covers over the years in the hope that my favorite cover from the epic "Block Mania/The Apocalypse War" saga that was reprinted in Eagle Comics' Judge Dredd #18-24 would surface one day. And, at last, it did - here's Dredd on the cover of issue #22 rallying the depleted forces of Mega City One in the snow and wind after they sabotaged their own weather system to halt the East Meg onslaught. "Dredd's appeal for TOTAL GUERRILLA WAR has brought INSTANT RESULTS!" Truly the best story from the '80s that too few have read - go and rectify that immediately, and relive all that Cold War anxiety!Social/Sharing |

As you hinted in your description, I'm one of the many who haven't read the story, but this is a terrific cover. Just amazing line work that, in my opinion, looks far superior without the color. If it weren't Brian Bolland, I would find it hard to believe that human hands could craft such wonder. Congratulations on an awesome acquisition!

Glad you were able to land one from the run that is so meaningful for you, Gene.

Now that is just a lovely piece of art. The rendering of the shadows under the helmet is how Bolland art is recognised. I was lucky enough to read this story as it was originally coming ot in 2000AD, and the week between each episode was torture. Congratulations on picking it up

Love this cover, and it's perfect that you landed it given how fondly you remember that story. A real classic.
