Karate Kid vs. Vegeta by Robbi Rodriguez

One of the benefits of reading Maintenance, besides being seriously entertained, was that I discovered the artwork of Robbi Rodriguez. He is incredibly talented at drawing facial expressions, action, humor, and well, everything else. I sent Robbi a list of opponents to choose from for a Karate Kid commission and he went with Vegeta, who is my favorite character from Dragon Ball Z. This piece is exploding with energy and Vegeta's rage. I love it. Also Robbi drew a cool Hellboy on the packaging he shipped my drawing in, which I've included below.

If they keep this to a straight up martial arts fight (but with flying), Val Armorr should win, though barely. But if Vegeta goes all Super Saiyan on Val and starts using energy attacks, Val will be in serious trouble.

As soon as I saw this piece pop on Robbi's blog, I knew whom it was going to. Wonderful energy from top to bottom, and Robbi's layout really takes advantage of the whole page; I love the verticality. Congrats, Travis!
