Description
I was introduced to EC Comics' horror titles through the old Gladstone reprints back in 1990-91 and have been a fan ever since!

As a longtime New York City straphanger, there's no better EC cover for me than this brilliant, darkly humorous example! These old EC covers are such a joy to behold in person - you just know that you're looking at something special and historic, something that you don't necessarily get from looking at newer art, even by the most highly respected artists. I consider this one to be a cornerstone piece in my collection, and it also happens to be my wife's single favorite piece that I own!

Exhibited at the Society of Illustrators in New York (Sep. 5 to Oct. 27, 2018) as part of the "Tales from the Crypt: The Revolutionary Art of Mad and EC Comics" exhibition.

Once seen, this cover can never be forgotten. For shock value, it's up there with Crime SuspenStories #22.

One of the very best Johnny Craig Horror covers. Always liked this cover image - from the moment I first set eyes on the comic-book, back in the late 1970s (when EC was a new discovery for me).

This best part about this is the upset stomach subway ad in the back. Great classic cover.

This has to be one of the five best EC covers ever IMO, so representative of the company. Beautiful.

Rob Pistella kindly sent me the book on the exhibition with this art... of course was pleasantly surprised to see a familiar name.  Love it!

A classic grusome cover. Definitely would make the parents take the comic book away from their kids (if the kiddies didn't hide it away under their bed first, he, he).

Congrats.

Riding on the subway in New York is SO tough. (How tough is it?) Johnny Craig did this cover from an actual photo he took while commuting to work one morning.

Man, I love EC Comics.

Complete agreement. In fact, as a life long strap hanger, and the things i've seen in the trains...this wouldn't shock me! lol. GREAT PIECE!!!
