Description
The Neal Adams artwork on Green Lantern & Green Arrow series has stood the test of time. Twice before in this commission series we took 2 great Adams covers and Re-Legioned them. Andy Smith did one and John Watson the other. You can check them out here

and more recently John Watson's take.

This time it was Mike Netzer turn to go to the fountain that is Neal Adams inspirational comic covers collection. After a bit of back and forth we settle on Issue 76 which brought the Green Lantern & Green Arrow team together.

The cover fitted nicely into Legion mythos. Although recently DC have tied the Legion of Superheroes and the Lantern Corps together, in fact they have a long history.

Just after the Great Darkness Saga there was a wonderful tale that explained why the Lantern Corps did not operate on 31st century Earth. It also hinted that Legion Villian Universo may in fact had been a Green Lantern at one time.

Later on that idea was built upon, when it was revealed that Legion Reservist Rond Vidar ( son of the super-villian Universo ) was in fact a Green Lantern also and he assisted them in seeking revenge for the death of Superboy and battled against the Time Trapper. He again reppeared and again died fighting alongside his friends in Legion of Three Worlds.

So we had the cover, we had the characters and we had the storyline..Mike Netzer then went to work. We did different images and poses but settled on the above image of Rond Vidar been challanged by the Legion founders. Cosmic Boy and Lightning Lad destroy the power battery and Saturn Girl uses her mental abilities to warn him away.

Chris Ivy did an amazing job inking. He also did several versions. I love the Legion Logo that he came up with for this commission which evokes the original GL/GA cover

Mike and Chris are amazing , amazing gifted and talented people to work out a commission with...

A classic cover, beautifully Re-Legioned. Your exhaustive research and commitment to authenticity and detail really pay off in these covers. They're not only great art, but they tell a great story that fits neatly into the Legion mythos. Well done.

It pays to be a Legion geek and I always open to suggestions from other fans when matching cover with stories & commissions
