Torque, Elizabeth - The Incomparable Dejah Thoris

Received from the artist in late January 2012. Check out the additional images to see the preliminary drawing, which was included with the commission. Elizabeth remarked when she enclosed the preliminary proposal: "Well, here I return to the sketch for this potential commission. I took my time because I wanted to do something along the lines of Shared Blood, more serious than I have grown accustomed to. I thought I had a free hand to do more Renaissance or an ancient touch. You know how much I like that kind of art.
Well, I know you like the character of Dejah Thoris, and I also like a sensual character, and full of strength, so I decided to dedicate a picture just to her. I've visualized her with oriental touches, perhaps Indian or Arabic in nature. Take a beautiful fine filigree sword in one hand, while the other caresses the head of her child-pet (Martian version of a panther). As you can see it is much more natural than what I have done recently, and is intended to be carried out completely in pencil."
