Description

This is one of the most fun pieces in my collection. It's from the Jack Adler Collection and I bought it waaaay back in 2002. Here's an excerpt from the text that appears on the Certificate of Authenticity... "These are unique one of a kind original paintings that were used to show the printer what exact color shades would be needed to print the final comic cover. The Adler collection features hundreds of these, most hand colored by Mr. Adler, with others colored by the original artist. Most of these were done in water color and contain some printer codes that were used to set the finished colors." So this is an original Adler water color! Look closely at it... I especially love the issue number and price area. This is just so wonderful in person. I hope the scan does it justice. The original art on the cover was done by the great Nick Cardy, and I always thought this was easily one of his most creative efforts. I've included a scan of the published cover in the additional images section. Have fun comparing!

There are a bunch of great Cardy covers. But this is one of the dark horses. Simple, effective and amazing.
