Micronauts 27 pg 01 TITLE SPLASH

Lots to unpack with this page.

Quick quiz: Name 5 heads of HYDRA.
1) Baron Strucker (Of Course.)

4) Someone named 'Arnold Brown' (The original Supreme Hydra! Hey! You sure know your Marvel History!)

Well, that's stretching it a bit, as fans of Nick Fury etc would argue. There's a difference between the 'Supreme' Hydra and a regional 'Head' of Hydra, which Karza probably was, as his influence only seemed to cover Florida. Many other noteworthy Marvel Villains have been 'Heads' of Hydra at one time or another. Grim Reaper, Space Phantom, even the Kingpin have been 'Heads' of Hydra.

Since my first-read MICRONAUTS was this issue (#27), this would have been my first glimpsed page... and what a continuity-heavy entrance it was. Much of this issue was so hard to follow without cliff-notes that it was almost gibberish. A surprise to me that it still made such an impression.

As a glance at the included scan of the published page will attest, this page has/had a 'surprint' page, the contents of which (Karza's head and the Star Wars Crawl text) would have showed up printed entirely in red. It was drawn and pasted separately on a thin sheet of 'vellum' paper; but, somewhere along the line someone decided to unify the piece and paste those elements onto the main page. (Perhaps the vellum had become damaged at some point over time, or a previous owner just wasn't a purist) Points scored for presentation, perhaps, but unfortunately Karza's head is glued down a little out of place.
