DescriptionNot only a great splash by John Buscema and Tom Palmer from their seminal run on Avengers, but also the first page of their Avengers collaboration. And one of my favorites JB Avengers splashes from the 70s -- especially since it has full figures of multiple Avengers, especially Goliath, one of my favorites.Social/Sharing |

An impressive example of Big Johns layout, and Palmers subtle but direct line work . What a Gem of a page!

Thunderous Big John's return on the Avengers title. At this time John was giving full pencils and with Tom they wrote the best pages of the book. Here is one of the most beautiful splash pages they did together. Congratulations Darren your JB collection is shining more and more and illuminates this site.

I love the expressions Buscema and Palmer are able to imbue their characters with on the page. Goliath looks so devastated by the news, the Wasp is shocked yet concerned, Yellowjacket is worried but already contemplating the consequences of their future actions, and the Vision is inscrutable and distinctly apart from the group. It's great storytelling outside the exposition.
