DescriptionI've had a desire for a great John Buscema Silver Surfer page for a long time. He breathed real life into Jack Kirby's timeless character (that has yet to be featured in the Marvel Cinematic Universe-- an event that will surely be breathtaking and memorable). This page was created for the 1987-88 graphic novel and is the grand, final page. It was also made into a Marvel litho, with backgrounds by Joe Jusko. I think the figure work, context and dialogue say it all-- Buscema featured an elegantly rendered iconic pose and setting to bring his story to a big close -- it's an unbeatable scene for the character and I'm thrilled to have it.Social/Sharing |

Big John has brought elegance to the Silver Surfer, no one has equaled him to portray with so much grace Norrin Radd, dancer among the stars. Seeing him slide along like this, we can hear the divine music that accompanies its wandering through the cosmos. Congratulations Rob.

thanks Michel that was poetic and so true. He brought grace and elegance to the character that still remains.

Such a beautiful page.
I own a recreation from this one and enjoy it everyday.
One of the best Silver Surfer poses ever.

Wow! Wow! Wow! What an unbeatable John Buscema Silver Surfer splash! This is, IMHO, the best SIlver Surfer drawing John ever drew. It's way better than any of the covers he drew for the series, even #1. What I love about this splash is the whole pose of the Surfer, the way the leans into the ride, its almost like he's actually surfing on the ocean, feeling the wave. Well, that's what he's doing here, riding he cosmic waves and feeling the Universe. It helps that John drew such a spectacular scene behind him, the planet below, the galaxies behind, the whole Universe stretching out unimaginable distances beyond him. This may be the single best drawing John Buscema ever did. If not, it's close. Absolutely stunning page, my sincere congratulations.
