DescriptionMy all time, number one holy grail. The cover to one of the first two comics I bought at an old liquor store with a spinner rack called Tipsy Fox in 1977. Even at six years old, this book ignited a life long love for all things Kirby and I can't believe it's in my collection. The inker has been in dispute for a while, but I did ask Mike Royer and he said that it looked like Verpoorten to him, so that's good enough for me! Always dug this one -- one of the best 1970s Kirby Marvel covers, I think. Also: super strong Red Skull in suit and hipster tie!

Great pick-up Sam! Owned this one myself eons ago and always felt it was one of Kirby's most eye-catching contributions(no pun intended) of the 70's era. :)

Thanks! You didn't own the complete book as well, did you? I've heard Jack sold stories of this vintage mostly intact....

I didn't own the complete book but I recall interiors available for sale about the same time I owned the cover. So, the book was already scattered to the winds.

Wow! What a clasic Kirby image! Cap vs. his arch nemesis as only the King can portray it! This would be really hard to top as a Cap or Kirby example! Sincere congrats!

Perfect example of the pencils being even more powerful than the final product. But then again, that's Kirby!
Congratulations on owning this 70s masterpiece.

I remember as a kid my grandfather, Joe, handed me the trade paperback with this cover. It immediately captured my attention and I've loved it since. It definitely has a nostalgic feel, great item to have in your collection!
