I picked this piece up off of eBay a few years ago, and it was actually the very first piece of Jeff Moy art in my collection! I might love getting colour sketch cards from Jeff, but I think my favourite kind of commission-type art from him is still these clean, tight pencil pieces. He doesn't do them as often these days, and it's pretty hard to come by any that are actually for sale (and considering that he's done so many over the years, I think that really speaks to how much people love his art!).

All that said, I was very happy to come by this one! Dream Girl is one of my favourite Legionnaires, and Jeff certainly did her justice here. Normally I like to get pinup pieces with poses that feel a bit more natural, like they could have come right out of a comic book, but you do have to admit that, for Dream Girl, a pose like this IS natural! The shading is just perfect (Jeff really nailed the reflective material of her suit), and I love how much time and detail he put into her hair, with so many individual curls. The fun geometric background is a staple of these pencil pieces of his, and I've always felt that, since he's done so many pieces featuring the same characters, the backgrounds are a way to add a bit more individuality to each piece.

Once I built a bit of a rapport with Jeff through WhatNot, I asked him if he remembered anything special about this piece. According to him, it and a few others were commissioned by a collector who specifically chose the poses and the, shall we say, "proportions" for each character.
