1993 The Secret Defenders

Issues 6-8 of The Secret Defenders showed the final fate of Xandu and the Wand of Watoomb. The story of Xandu and the wand actually had gone on for years. The story started in Spider-man Annual #2 with "The Wondrous World of Dr. Strange co-staring Spider-man!". It continued in Marvel Team-up #21 in "The Spider and The Sorcerer." The story of Xandu, the wand, and his wife Melinda continued with the Scarlet Witch in Marvel Fanfare #6 "Switch Witch." It then moved to the graphic novel "The Way to Dusty Death" starring Spider-man and Dr. Strange. The issues all tie together the tragic story of how Xandu accidently stunned his wife Melinda with a mis-directed magic spell. He spent years trying to bring her preserved body to life only to discover he had killed her. Subsequently Melinda became the ruler of the Death dimension. In this final story which starred Captain America, The Scarlet Witch, Spider-man and Doctor Strange Xandu tried to join the Death Dimension to Earth.
