Legendary artist John Buscema worked with DC Comics for the first time in 2000 after over five decades in the business, many of them spent on iconic works for Marvel. His very first piece for DC was doing both, pencils and inks, on a "Batman Black and White" back up short story in Batman: Gotham Knights #7 (Sept. 2000). It was the first, and sadly, the only time he would impart his unmistakable style to Batman. Barely over a year later, John passed away at 72 years of age, losing a battle to stomach cancer. With John crafting the 8-page story as the sole artist, each of those pages are Holy Grails for Batman original art collectors. I feel very fortunate to have been able to acquire all 8 pages and keep this historic gem intact as it was originally created.
