That is a beautiful piece, definitely worth the price.

That was published in the Yachting Magazine, October 1941.  Titled "First Win."

Thanks for your comment, but the actual cover that was used in the newspapers was in color.  I had to use the b&w because that is the only one I could find.  Hopefully sometime in the future I can find the actual color tear sheet.

Hard to believe it has been 17 years when I had this one.  I had 423-425 all in one frame on my wall!  I had most of the boards for "Problem Child" but there were a lot missing, and I have not seen any of those turn up.  I'm glad it has found a good home!

Two beautiful strips! I always thought Al McWilliams was always seriously underrated.  And yes, his inking style does remind of Alex Raymond, congrats on this striking pair od strips!

Many congrats on this acquisition! Jack was the first person I ever contacted when I got into this hobby.  We never talked, but communicated via email many times.  He was the one who intruduced me to Alex Raymond's Rip Kirby.  He definitely loved his Krazy Kats and was sending pictures of his Rips, Cisco Kid, and of course his Kats!  It was a sad ending to Jack, but I'm sure he woud be happy where this particular piece ended up at.
