Vampirella #90 p28 - Eye Of Anubis Owner: Marvelman Excelsior Comment posted on 6/14/2025 Even the sound effects are pure Toth lettering. Great page - essentially he has used the layouts and put Toth on top. I can imagine the silhouette panels originally had a lot more detail and Toth felt a silhouette worked better on the page. And who would argue with him! |

2000AD Prog 12 page 5 - Harlem's Heroes! Owner: Marvelman Excelsior Comment posted on 6/9/2024 Great line about Scotland's fans being being the wildest and unruly before becoming independent. Tom Tully, the writer was a Scot. Shows why 2000ad had that extra edge over other comics. Satire with a wink of politics. Fantastic art from Gibbons. Boy did the artist have to do a lot of art to compensate for the lack of colour. And boy did we lap it up! |

Should a great sequence very much taken from Miller's DD #169 a few years earlier. I wonder how many times it had been used in the past, I remember a Silver Age Superman sequence done this way and also possibly one with multiple Two-Faces? Lovely lovely page. ![]() I agree. First thing I thought when I saw it was the " Devils " story with Bullseye in 169. I'm pretty sure there is Mad parody that has multiples of the same Superhero. It has a Mad quality to it. Something via Kurtzman and Elder. |

Blas Gallego from Scream Holiday special but drawn circa 1975. Black Beth Owner: Sean Price Comment posted on 8/15/2013
David Roach said:
I have page 1 of this strip. The artist is Blas Gallego who was very prolific in the Uk throughout the 70s. I can't help thinking this was left over from that period- possibly intended for one of the comics he drew for such as Misty or Pink. This is the best page of the strip- I'm very jealous! ![]() Thanks David. Never thought I'd find out who the artist is - - I'm in your dept. Gallego is a fantastic artist - he seems to use a number of tools on the page.I think it's from an earlier period too. These UK comics from the 60's and 70's are full of gems. |
