DescriptionI started reading Daredevil with issue #206, and it quickly became one of my favorite titles, due in no small part to the memorable Arthur Byron Cover/Harlan Ellison story in issue #208 (continued in #209 by Cover), which featured DD battling a booby-trapped house of horrors set up for him by the mother of his late nemesis, Death-Stalker! I can still remember riding my bicycle to a local gas station and buying this one off the spinner rack when it came out and being blown away by the issue, one of the most nostalgic from my first year of collecting comics. DD #208 (featuring Mazzucchelli's first cover for the series) trails only the classics #181 and #227 among my all-time favorite Daredevil issues.Over the past 5 years or so, I have been on a mission to pick up a number of pieces that, for various reasons, somehow eluded me in the past. This one may be the most satisfying of those acquisitions, even if much was given up to get it (still - TOTALLY WORTH IT). I'm so pleased to have this one in my collection - thanks to those involved who helped facilitate this deal (you know who you are)! Social/Sharing |

This one ticks off a number of important boxes including a great nostalgic connectuon. And a Mazz DD cover at that! Wow. Congratulations Gene! And the cover looks great after the cleaning/conservation.

Cool piece! Interesting to see DD in a non-urban setting--very gothic...

Looks great after the resto, although for the life of me i cant remember what the touch ups were? So happy that you managed to get yet another key piece of nostalgia for your collection, at this rate you should be all finished in another year or so :-)

Great cover that also has nostalgia value for me. My first DD was issue 200 so around the same time and I can understand the attachment. I'd love for you to post some before and after restoration pictures if you could.

It just looks so good. Mazzucchelli is one of the few artists who have mastered the super-hero genre and the alternative scene too.

I don't know what's better...the art or your story that goes with it. Being a collector that only buys nostalgic pieces, I know the feeling of accomplishment you get when you find (and land!) such a great piece. Congrats Gene!

Great cover! Your timing is prescient and poignant given Ellison's passing today.
