Description

--- Donald Duck's 90th anniversary (1934-2024) ---

One of the jobs that Donald usually does is that of a journalist (together with his cousin Fethry) for the Duckburg Chronicle (Papersera here in Italy), owned by Uncle Scrooge. The original idea by Dick Kinney and Tony Strobl is from 1969, but it was later used by many other authors. Mastantuono is probably the most recent, with his "Papersera News presenta" ("Duckburg Chronicle News presents") series that started in 2019 and looks like it's still ongoing, with its 15th episode published only a few months ago.

This cover is related to episode 14 in the series, "Zio Paperone e il sapone truccato" (Uncle Scrooge and the rigged soap), first published in Topolino magazine #3493, a story about a monopoly of soaps and detergents, with clear satirical intentions (see the references to the free market, monopoly regimes, corruption and malfeasance, prohibitionism, and smuggling).
