Description

I'm not the biggest authority of Dark Horse's time on the Star Wars property, but I recall the 'Shadows of the Empire' effort.

'Shadows of the Empire' was dubbed a 'multimedia event' which in practical terms meant it was trying out all the merchandising and marketing of a Big Movie... without actually making a movie. Novels, comics, trading cards, video games, toys, etc... all produced as if you were releasing a movie. (The BBC's 'Doctor Who' has done this several times, as well.)

'Shadows' happened in 1996, with Lucasfilm eyeing the release of the 'Special Editions' of the Original Trilogy in the next year, and was using 'Shadows' as a trial run to iron out the kinks for the Real Thing.

This page, while produced by Dark Horse, was actually published as a minicomic inserted in a model kit produced by ERTL.

For as obscure as it is, this page came a little dearly... but I was paying for the content more than the pedigree. Nice pic of Vader and his personal TIE fighter in battle.

If you weren't familiar with Shadows of the Empire, you at least got the most universally known character throughout all of Star Wars in Darth Vader and a mighty good page at that.
