DescriptionThis lovely original gouache piece by David Wright is untitled and has been published twice. It first appeared on page 184 in Terry Parker’s book, ‘Sirens’, the definitive examination of David Wright’s pin-up, advertising, and commercial illustration work. It next appeared as the back cover to ‘David Wright’s Carol Day: Lance Hallam’, the art book reproducing the original art to the Lance Hallam storyline from Carol Day in full-size and full-color and published by Roger Clark, Guy Mills, and yours truly under the Slingsby Bros, Ink! publishing banner. According to Parker in ‘Sirens’, the piece is thought to be a preliminary design for a Schweppes advertising showcard, possibly. But, given the 1960s as the estimated creation date of the piece, it’s clearly Carol Day and possibly just done in the style of one of Wright’s Schweppes advertising pieces.Social/Sharing |

On the one hand I wish you would stop posting such stunning pieces as I am getting seriously jealous. On the other hand, keep em coming, they are just too sweet not to share!
