Description

I remember seeing the soap opera strip Mary Worth in the comics section and it was perhaps the only strip I did really read or care for in our weekly weekend funnies section. From the ages of 8 to about 13, it held no interest. Now that I am a bit older, the later run of the strip looks as uninteresting to me as it did then but the earlier strips...nice girls and art. Here is one from 1948. The strip officially began in 1938 but was preceded by Apple Mary by about 4 years and changed names and most characters continued on. Apple Mary was by Martha Or who worked on it only for a few years. The strip ran in total for over 80 years! Another source of controversy is the connection to Apple Mary which seems pretty clear to me. Read more about the details on wiki under Mary Worth if you care.
