Description

Hulk versus Hulk! The ‘original’ Hulk gets pummelled by the ‘familiar’ Hulk (Xemnu the Living Titan was called the Hulk in his first appearance in Journey into Mystery in 1960). A genuinely bizarre story, in which Xemnu stars in a television programme called the Astro-Nuts so that he can hypnotise the Earth’s children, in order to bring them to his own planet to be converted into members of his race. Fighting through the pain, Hulk pummels Xemnu out of existence, only to be insulted by Doctor Strange for being too stupid for Xemnu’s thought control powers to latch onto. Ross Andru’s expressive style seems ideal for so strange a tale and the wild multi-armed depiction of the Hulk, indicating the speed and ferocity of his pummelling, is reminiscent of his days on the Flash.
