DescriptionThis page has a real horror movie feel, with Man-Thing seen either in the background, with horrified people commanding our attention in the foreground, or in close-up only as a terrifying limb reaching out to do harm. It gives the bog-beast a creeping menace, the notion of an inescapable fate. And who better to achieve this than the pairing of John Buscema and Klaus Janson? This was a fantastic story, and the frightened people are Vivian and Carolyn Schist, wife and daughter of construction magnate F. A. Schist, who was killed by the Man-Thing after Schist drank the ‘water of life’ at La Hacienda in Man-Thing #8 (“true believers”). They had good reason to run.Social/Sharing |

The suspense is palpable. Storytelling at its best.
