Description

I must have stayed out too long in the sun or something the day that I bought my first publicity drawings. This example from Mickey's Man Friday was just one of a couple of dozen publicity drawings I could have bought that day, and, while they varied in price, I could have chosen to buy any of them. But, for some reason that now seems insane, I actually thought that this was the best of the bunch, and I actually told Howard Lower, at the time I bought it, that I liked it better than the ones with larger figures! He must also have also thought that I was nuts since virtually every other publicity drawing I could have chosen as the first to purchase was better than this one. Fortunately, I later bought almost all of the rest, and it's unlikely that this first purchase much affected Howard's opinion of my sanity -- I'm sure, based on countless utterances he has made over the years, that he has always thought that I am crazy. In any event, this drawing holds a position of great importance in my collecting of comic related art, especially since it was the initial purchase in what ultimately became my favorite collection among the several groups of comic art types that I own. And yet, hardly anyone else seems to care one iota about any of my publicity drawings. Once again, I just happen to be right in my assessment of merit and my admiration!!!
