Description

Daimon Hellstrom confronts Melissa Manners – who is revealed to be possessed by the demon, Allatou. After taking the opportunity to depict the Son of Satan at his moody best, Colan wastes no time in getting to the real action of the scene – effectively a half-splash sports tackle by the possessed girl, knocking Hellstrom’s trident from his hand. This page is from the first of just a pair of issues by Colan on this run, but he was a natural for full-on gothic horror and really captured the grim determination of Hellstrom to drive evil from the material plane.

This came out a year after the Excorcist, so these were definitely Marvel's and Colan's masterful take to capitalize on the new face of fear and horror.

One of the best Tomb of Drac pgs I've seen - lol. Chiarmonte's inks are terrific on this page, and we all know Colan was notoriously difficult to ink.

One of the most useless charcters from the 1970s (and later again 1990s), but superb and moody Colan art. And paired with a highly unusual inker, I didn't know that Chiramonte worked for Marvel books before his many fruitful years at DC on ahundred Curt Swans Superman stories and other stuff.
