DescriptionHere is a piece that has been a long time coming. I fell in love with the Mutts comic strip and its characters at first read. It reminded me of my earlier experience reading Calvin and Hobbes. The dailies from this strip are rather scarce and I have had to bide my time. When I saw this one come up for sale dedicated to a Jeff, well...it literally had my name written all over it. I am happy to add one of these after many years of waiting and searching. It is funny, I see the 2000 date on this and I think..."oh, it is recent." On further reflection, it is over 20 years old, pre 9/11, from a gentler time. How the world has changed since. Social/Sharing |

Mutts is a great strip and Patrick is a great guy. We saw him a few times at the Cartoon Art Museum, the Charles Schulz Museum, and San Diego Comic Con.

I think so too. It has been trying to find me for the past 21 years.

You're lucky the restoration of the Salvator Mundi stopped before they found that mysterious "Para Goffredo" on the verso.

Just love it Jeff. Having your name must have been like a signal for going for it. Congratulations.

Major congrats to you, Jeff. I especially love Mooch's expression in that final panel.

What a great find! Terrific example with the perfect dedication. I don't have a strip, but Kathy and I have a drawing by him.

Sadly I am still biding my time. I want a good Mooch one. This is a nice one.

McDonnell brings a joy to these characters and a relatability to the audience that all the great strips through the years carry. The simplicity and economy of line furthers that end and makes strips like these precious and timeless as they time travel you back to when they were first seen.
